Profiltitel
New intermediate band solar cell for photovoltaic power generation
What we offer:
A new intermediate band (IB) solar cell has been designed at UCM wherein all three materials, the intermediate band, the p-type semiconductor n-type semiconductor are arranged in a lateral configuration on a given substrate, forming a heterogeneous surface layer.
If the (IB) material is connected to an n-type semiconductor and another type p, contacting only the latter from the outside, IB material remains isolated and it is not hidden by any of the other two issuers. Thus loss of voltage is avoided and the efficiency of the solar cell increase.
With this new design the three materials can be manufactured simultaneously or in desired ordered phases, instead of the traditional structure of layers that arranges the production of the materials.
This kind of solar cell can work with back contacts so its both sides can face the sunlight for power generation.
What we are looking for:
The R&D group looks for collaborating with companies from photovoltaic industry interested in applying this technology in their products, adding a new solution in its catalog.
They are also looking for partners for public funding for further development.
Collaboration sought:
- Technical cooperation
- Commercial cooperation
- R&D cooperation
